On Tuesday, September 29th, 2025, I got one of the great honors that all teachers aspire to—teaching alongside a former student.

During the Emporia State University Future Educator Summit, I was able to partner with Ms. Lauren Moon—2023 alumna and chemistry teacher at Chapman High School—to share our thoughts and hopes for future classrooms that are more hands on, more brains on, and more agentic for middle and high school learners.

We shared with future educators information about engagement, PBL, agency, and POGIL.

More information about personalized learning and agency can be found at the following resources.
Personalized Learning - edtechbooks.org/encyclopedia/personalized_learning
Learner Agency - edtechbooks.org/theory_comp_2021/personalized_learning_short

More information about POGIL can be found on their website at www.pogil.org/.

Our slide deck used for the Future Educator Summit breakout session "Hands-On, Brains-Om! Using Real-World Principles In the Classroom" is below.
